Deployed Paramedic Capability in an Austere Environment

Challenge

The Nasir, Bekri, Tayi and Lawrence Tribute Trek, undertaken to raise funds for the Special Forces Club Benevolent Fund, involved a 25-day, 1,100 km camel expedition across remote desert terrain in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The expedition required continuous medical support in an austere environment with limited evacuation options and significant environmental and expedition-related health risks.

Solution

Iqarus provided medical planning and clinical governance before deploying an experienced expedition paramedic to provide embedded medical support throughout the journey, with clinical reachback available when required.

Impact

The capability provided continuous Prolonged Field Care across the 25-day expedition, enabling injuries and illness to be assessed, treated and monitored in the field while supporting the health and resilience of the expedition team.
